MC, Editor of Live TV Station teaches program hosting skills to DNU students

That is the sharing of MC, Editor My Van - Vietnam Television in the talk show “Program hosting skills No. 02: The art of asking questions and controlling body language” organized by the Faculty of Communications, Dai Nam University.

MC is a prominent career field chosen by many students after graduation. This is a career that not only brings a good income but also helps young people to be confident, cheerful, talkative and have more social knowledge.
Quickly grasping career trends, the Faculty of Communication has organized a series of Talks specializing in MC skills to help students better understand this profession. The first episode of the program with the participation of MC, BTV Son Lam - VTV24 Vietnam Television Station attracted the attention of many students inside and outside the school. Speaking at the program, Dr. Tran Van Le - Head of the Faculty of Communication said: "Training will and professional skills right from the classroom is a necessary condition for students to take the lead and expand job opportunities in the current digital age 4.0..."
Dr. Tran Van Le said: "Learning goes hand in hand with practice" is the training motto of the Faculty of Communication.
What does it take to become a "in demand" MC?
At the seminar, MC and editor My Van shared about issues that many young people are interested in such as: Necessary skills of a program host, how to build and master unique content, situation handling skills, how to avoid presenting when hosting a program?...
Accordingly, BTV My Van affirmed that to become a “hot” MC in the increasingly competitive MC market, it is necessary to build and position a personal brand. In addition, it is necessary to cultivate foreign languages and social knowledge to “keep pace” with the process of deep international integration as well as the path to becoming a professional bilingual MC.

With a close and natural sharing style, MC and editor My Van attracted many students to participate in asking interactive questions.
In response to the question “How to confidently lead a crowd?” , MC My Van shared: “Practice a lot by leading in front of the mirror, gradually adjusting your voice, body language… Most importantly, believe in yourself, believe that you can do it; you will definitely improve your confidence when leading a crowd.”

Also at the program, MC and editor My Van gave a challenge to students of the Faculty of Communication. Accordingly, students were given the opportunity to draw lots and ask questions to the delegates according to the assigned topics. Here, the female MC directly gave comments and suggestions to help students ask the right questions; thereby being able to exploit "valuable" information from the person being asked.
“When asking questions, you should limit the use of closed questions (Yes/No); focus on listening to the answers to ask in-depth questions that can extract more information,” MC My Van shared.

In the second challenge, students were invited to the stage to try reading a news bulletin with a cue (telephone). Based on her experience, MC My Van shared and gave advice to students about voice, speaking speed, volume, and how to emphasize important information when reading a news bulletin.
Accordingly, future editors need to pronounce clearly, roundly, strongly, without lisping, and adjust the rhythm of each sentence to suit each different program genre.
